National Museum of Anthropology
Our third stop is the National Museum of Anthropology! This Museum highlights Filipino culture and history by allowing visitors to see various ethnological and archeological exhibits.
The National Museum of Anthropology is a museum devoted to showcasing artworks and pieces. The structure currently houses the Philippine ethnographic and terrestrial and underwater archaeological collections, displaying different artifacts such as dioramas, images, and statues. The museum also displays exhibits showing the craftsmanship of the pre-colonial Filipinos. These include the weapons they use for both hunting and war, baskets and jars with intricate designs, and even the tools they use for crafting and everyday life.
The museum also houses special exhibits such as the Palayok Exhibit featuring the pottery and ceramic heritage of the Philippines. It showcases both the pottery made by Filipinos, as well as those acquired from trading with foreigners, and the Exhibit of the Afterlife, featuring the burial practices of the ancient Filipinos. Here we can see the urns used, as well as busts and funeral masks of the deceased.
The National Museum of Anthropology is the best place to learn about the Filipino people in the past, as well as their culture and practices. The exhibits bring to life the colorful customs and traditions of the Filipinos, which were evident even in the past.
